Name Your Car Day

Updated: Aug 31, 2021

What's in a Name?

As humans, we personify things both living and nonliving. When we personify something we usually start with giving it a name. We all have our own names and each one is unique. Whether it is the name given to us by our parents or a nickname bestowed upon us by our best of friends.

Sometimes our names change with age or personality. For example, Rebecca/Becky, Daniel/Danny/Dan, Robert/Rob, Jess/Jessica, etc. Other times we get our nicknames from something we have done or that describes us. For example, someone who ha a high pitched voice may be called Squeaky or someone who is tall may be called Titan.

Our pets and childhood lovies, like teddy bears or blankets even have names of their own. I have had childhood pets named Duke (dog), Snowy (bird), and Beebee (cat). While Jon had Panther (cat) and Oosie (rabbit). I also once had a tan colored dog backpack I called Sparky and I took it everywhere with me.

But what about personifying our cars? We've heard of a Chevy Caprice Wagon called "The Vista Cruiser" and a Ford Festiva called a "The Tomato" that got in a wreck and was then called "The Bruised Tomato." Even our 1989 Jeep Cherokee has a name! We call it "Beast."

Does your vehicle have a name? October 2nd is Name Your Car Day! If you haven't already, give your car the personalized gift of a name!
