Why You Shouldn't Lie to Your Mechanic

We’re only human and sometimes we get embarrassed by our mistakes or lack of knowledge on a subject.

It’s okay, just DON’T LIE.

A mechanic is trying to help you! When your vehicle is making a noise and you can’t get it fixed for another six months, sh*t happens. Just don’t lie and say it just started making noise. Tell us the noise has been there for six months! We’re not here to judge your life choices, we’re here to fix your car. While we do recommend you get your car repairs done in a timely manner, we understand that life happens.

What happens when you lie to your mechanic?

  • No Trust. You can’t build a trusting relationship with your mechanic. Here at J&S, we pride ourselves on honesty. We are honest with our customers and hope that our customers can be honest with us.

  • More Problems. Dishonesty causes more problems. For instance, not telling your mechanic that you filled up with Diesel instead of Unleaded and letting the mechanic start the car.

  • More Expensive. Dishonesty makes your vehicle harder to diagnose. This will in turn add more labor time for diagnostics and repair and possibly parts that may not fix the original problem.

All in all, just be honest! Your vehicle will get fixed a lot sooner, because it can be diagnosed a lot easier and there’s no guessing as to what may or may not have happened.

You’re not alone in putting off repairs or making mistakes.
