Is Your Vehicle Ready for Winter?

Updated: Oct 24, 2021

The Cold is Coming!

Is your vehicle ready for it?

Use this Winter maintenance checklist to get your vehicle prepped for the snow and freezing temps!

  1. Wipers. Replace worn, streaking or broken windshield wipers.

  2. Washer fluid. Replace fluid with a winter mix that is able to withstand freezing temperatures.

  3. Tires. Mount winter tires, check tire pressure and tread depth.

  4. Defrost/Heat. Make sure the window defrost and heat are in working order.

  5. Leaks. Inspect your vehicle for any leaks.

  6. Antifreeze. DO NOT CHECK WHEN HOT. Check the level of your antifreeze. Be sure to have proper mixture and type to avoid damage to your vehicle.

  7. Oil. Are you due for an oil change? Consider switching to a lower viscosity grade for winter months. Most vehicles 2000's and newer use a type of oil that can be used year round.

  8. Battery. Check and clean battery terminals. If your battery is over 3 years old, you may want to consider replacing it.

  9. Lights. Check headlights, taillights, fog lamps, turn signals and brake lights. Also know where to find and use hazard lights.

  10. Emergency kit. It’s always good to be prepared. Having an emergency kit in your vehicle can make a difference if you happen to get stuck out on a cold winter day.

  11. Contact. Contact J&S FixQuik Automotive with any questions or concerns about your vehicle.
