Spark Plugs may be small, but they are a major component for your engine. To learn more about why you should replace your spark plugs, read Why to Get a Tune Up.
First let's look at some main causes WHY your spark plugs may stop working properly.
AGE. Spark plugs don't last forever! Usually, anywhere from 2-4 years is when you want to replace them.
CORROSION. Oil and gas tends to build up on the ends of a spark plug. Over time, this will corrode and rust.
RESIDUE. When you burn oil, an ashy residue builds up and coats the spark plugs. No longer allowing a clear spark.
Here are a few common signs that it is time to replace your spark plugs:
Your Car Won't Start
Your Car Won't Accelerate
Your Fuel Economy is Reduced
The Engine Misfires
The Engine Doesn't Have a Smooth Idle Anymore
If you notice your vehicle has any of the issues listed above, it's time to take a look at your vehicle's spark plugs and more than likely get them replaced. Contact your mechanic and schedule in an appointment to address this issue.
