Buying a vehicle can be exciting! Don't let the swirling questions in your head get you down!
There are many places to purchase a vehicle. Large dealerships, used car lots, and even private owners. Wherever you choose, make sure you know what you're buying! Always have a trusted mechanic inspect the vehicle before signing and check out "What to watch out for when buying a used vehicle".
Once you find the "Chosen One" and finish any paperwork you may have, it's time to get to work on the upkeep of your preowned vehicle!
Get a Tune Up! Contact that trusted mechanic and schedule in for a tune up. Getting a tune up for your vehicle ensures it has clean clear connections for its new life with its new owner: you! Read more: Why You Need a Tune Up
Brake Time! Consider replacing the pads and rotors and/or drums and shoes all the way around on your vehicle. This will give you the piece of mind that you will be able to stop your vehicle when it is needed the most. This will also give your mechanic a chance to see any hidden flaws in the suspension components.
Get a Car Wash! It seems unnecessary right away, but we have come across many vehicles that have had issues after a quick run through a car wash or after the first rainy day. While coasting through the suds and afterwards, there a few things to keep an eye out for:
Leaking
Stalling or Sputtering
Check Engine Light
Any Other Issues. Address any other issues your vehicle may have. These can include any warning lights (like a check engine light) any leaks you have noticed or any odd noises you may hear.
Maintenance Scheduling. Have a plan! Read the back of your Owner's Manual, it should contain important information for maintenance of your vehicle. Don't have an Owner's Manual? Check out this General Maintenance Schedule.
